## What HAL is

HAL is a personal AI assistant that does not lock you into a single model. A question goes to the provider that handles it best -- Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI, DeepSeek, Moonshot and others -- and the answer comes back in one thread. It keeps a memory of how you think across sessions, reads and writes your mail, calendar and notes, and can put you in front of a real human specialist for the things a model should not answer alone.
